Calvin Wong, MD, FAAFP
Calvin Wong, MD, FAAFP, is a California native, born in the San Francisco Bay Area. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. degree in biochemistry and graduated from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine in 1993. He completed his residency in Family Medicine from Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. In addition, he obtained further training completing a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of California, San Diego. He is board-certified in family medicine and has achieved the honor of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Dr. Wong has vast experience in family medicine, sports medicine, occupational medicine, and urgent care. He opened Metro Comprehensive Medical Center in downtown San Diego in 2009 to help serve the growing needs of the area. He enjoys spending extra time with his patients and is an active listener, a quality that sets him apart from other providers. He sees work-related injuries, handles acute and chronic occupational injuries under most workers’ compensation insurance programs, performs pre-employment, DMV, and sports pre-participation physical examinations, and sees urgent care patients. With his expertise in sports medicine, he has served as the head medical team physician for the NFL professional football team, the San Diego Chargers for 17 years. Dr. Wong enjoys participating in the care of athletes ranging from high school to professional level. He has helped in providing medical coverage at various events including ESPN X-Games, San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon, San Diego Marathon, Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines, and the World Match Play Golf Championship at La Costa.
Furthermore, Dr. Wong actively participates in the training of future providers. He has served/currently serves as volunteer faculty at the Western University of Health Sciences and University of California, Davis. He also aids in the training of physician assistants and nurse practitioner students at USC of School of Nursing, University of San Diego, and California State University. He is also on the clinical faculty at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine and involved in the training of medical students.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling and sports as well as spending time with his family. Dr. Wong is a proud father and a doting husband to his wife, Alena and 3 children, Jacob, Liana, and Aria.
Ashley Morrison, PA-C
Ashley Morrison, PA-C is a board certified physician assistant. As a Southern California native, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology at UC San Diego. She then went on to receive her Master of Clinical Medical Science from Barry University in Miami Shores, Florida. She has a strong interest in family medicine and believes in building a partnership with her patients to empower them to lead a healthy lifestyle. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, skateboarding, and spending time with her family.
